Portofoglio – your new pizza-on-the-go favourite

Our Pronto Pizza operation has launched a new offering – pizza portofoglio.

It’s a Neapolitan street food favourite which translates as ‘wallet pizza’. It’s a smaller, thinner pizza that folds in on itself, like a wallet – making it the perfect pizza to eat on the go.

The Pronto Pizza Portofoglio was unveiled at the recent Porty Festival in Edinburgh – and we reckon it’s the first time it’s been seen in Scotland.

Michael Notarangelo, owner of Scottish event catering specialist Belmonte Catering, said the introduction of portofoglio pizza perfectly illustrates the company’s commitment to excellence.

Michael said: “The organisers of the Porty Festival wanted their first event to be memorable in as many ways as possible, so we set out to make sure that happened with the catering.

“When we were appointed the main event caterers we needed to underline that with a unique offering – so we set about perfecting our portofoglio pizzas to serve to the hundreds of visitors. As far as we’re aware, it’s the first time it’s appeared as a street food offering.

“At Pronto Pizza we look to serve the most authentic Italian pizza you’d find outside of Italy, so we put our energy towards investigating and researching how to recreate the perfect Neapolitan-style portofoglio pizza in Portobello. We were delighted with the finished product – and judging by the reaction of customers, they were too.

“This is what we love doing at every event we are booked for – we listen to what the organisers want and we look to make it happen. Be it a bespoke menu, working to a theme or just making sure that every visitor/customer is delighted.”

Portofoglio is the perfect choice if you are looking for a quick and delicious pizza experience for your next event or function. While a classic portofoglio will feature just tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and a splash of extra virgin olive oil (a Margherita in other words), other toppings can be added.
