Belmonte Catering Makes A Splash At The Seaside Festival

Top Edinburgh street food operator Belmonte Catering was delighted to be appointed the main catering provider for the first Porty Festival in May.

We provided two food outlets which catered for the hundreds of visitors to the two-day event, over the weekend of May 10-11, between noon and 9pm.

The Porty Festival also marked a first for us too – as we unveiled our new Pronto Pizza Portofoglio offering which was joined by our ever-popular The Doghouse stand, selling gourmet hot dogs, loaded fries and our own-receipe smash burgers.

Michael Notarangelo, owner of Scottish event catering specialist Belmonte Catering, said it was important for him to help ensure the Porty Festival was a success.

He said: “I was brought up in Portobello, but more so, Portobello is home to our first bricks and mortar premises – Pronto Pizza in Brighton Place – so I wanted to do what we could to help in this celebration of all that’s good about Portobello.

“That’s why we decided to use the event to launch our new pizza portofoglio offer – we wanted to bring something special and not seen before to the visitors.

Portofoglio is a Neapolitan street food favourite which translates as ‘wallet pizza’. It’s a smaller, thinner pizza that folds in on itself, like a wallet. This makes it the perfect pizza to eat on the go.

“We were delighed with the reaction – as well as the response to The Doghouse, specially our smash burgers that were made using meats sourced specially from butchers Findlays of Portobello.

“This is what we love doing at every event we are booked for – we listen to what the organisers want and we look to make it happen. Be it a bespoke menu, working to a theme or just making sure that every visitor/customer is delighted.”

The Porty Festival was billed as a celebration of everything that people love about Portobello – with a variety of events over the weekend at four locations. This included the Town Hall where Belmonte Catering had its two units.

Festival founder Carmen Chalmbers said:  ”A huge thank you to Pronto Pizza and The Doghouse for being such a fantastic addition to the first Porty Festival!

“Your delicious menus kept festival-goers happy and ensured our amazing staff and volunteers were well-fed all weekend.

“We are so grateful for your support and for getting behind the vision of what Porty Festival is all about — community, creativity, and coming together.”

With a range of units and food choices, Belmonte Catering is carving out a reputation as one of Scotland’s best street food and catering operators. We have the capability to cater for parties of all sizes – from a high volume festival to an intimate family party, we will work with you to provide a premium food offering that will be cost-efficient and a perfect match for your event.

Belmonte Catering – named after the Italian village where Michael’s family originate from – has four operations in its portfolio: Pronto, serving authentic Italian pizza; Rollys Ice Cream, the first in Scotland to serve unique ice cream ‘rolls’; The Doghouse, which specialises in gourmet hot dogs and loaded fries; and StikWaffle, offering a hot dessert concept.
